Hardwood and Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered Wood
Engineered wood flooring is built in layers. This makes it more resistant to changes in temperatures so you don’t encounter the expansion and contraction like you would with solid hardwood.
Where Can Engineered Wood be Installed?
Engineered hardwood flooring can be installed in any room of the home, whether it’s over a concrete slab, wood subfloor, or over existing vinyl.
Floating Engineered Wood Installation
You have different installation methods you can choose from as well to install your engineered hardwood flooring. One of those methods is to float the engineered wood using a tongue and groove adhesive which will hold the floor together. This method also requires an underlayment to deaden the foot traffic noise of your floating floor. This is very user friendly for the DIY home owner.
Glue Down Engineered Wood Installation
Glue downs are installed by using a trowel to spread the adhesive over a concrete slab. Usually professionals will measure out three feet or enough for twelve rows to cover, using a three inch wide board as an example. Each and every individual board is placed one at a time into the adhesive until the glued area is covered. Once completed, another area is marked and laid.
Nail Down Engineered Hard
Nailing down wood floors is the most common installation method. Unfortunately for those of us who are living on concrete slabs, we only have the option to glue down or float the floor over the slab. If you happen to have a wood subfloor, the process involves nailing or stapling the engineered wood flooring directly to the wood subfloor. Typically, it is installed by blind-nailing the material through the tongue of the floorboards into the wooden subfloor. This way, the nails are not visible after the flooring is installed.

Laminate Flooring Installation

Laminates are printed surfaces often made to look like wood, reproduced on tough paper, plastic or foil, and bonded to a composite base. The look is simple but elegant at the same time, and that usually translates into savings. High-pressure laminates are molded and cured at 1,200 to 2,000 lbs. per square foot, resulting in a very smooth, tough and durable surface.

Laminate Installation

Interlocking laminate floating floors can be installed over clean and level ceramic, vinyl, concrete or plywood / OSB subflooring. Laminate floors are reasonably easy for a DIY homeowner to install. Laminate flooring is packaged as a number of tongue and groove planks which have a locking system, and allows the planks to click together for the ease of installation.

Strand Woven Bamboo

As you may already know, bamboo flooring is made out of a grass, not wood. Because of this, bamboo is highly fibrous. Ordinary manufacturing methods laminate these fibers one on top of the other. But the strand method actually weaves these fibers in an adhesive base, forming a stronger material. Bamboo is Eco Friendly and a renewable source.

Where can Strand Woven Bamboo be installed?

Strand woven bamboo can be installed over concrete or a wood subfloor.

Glue Down Bamboo Installation

Glue downs are installed by using a trowel to spread the adhesive over a concrete slab. Usually professionals will measure out three feet or enough for twelve rows to cover, using a three inch wide board as an example. Each and every individual board is placed one at a time into the adhesive until the glued area is covered. Once completed, another area is marked and laid.

Cork Flooring

Cork flooring is often considered one of the more recent flooring alternatives for use in residential buildings but the material has in fact been used as flooring since the late 19th century. This type of flooring is super-resilient and eco-friendly, which is why it is becoming a popular flooring choice among those interested in minimizing their carbon footprint.

Where can Cork Flooring be installed?

Cork flooring can be installed in any room of the home, whether it’s over a concrete slab, wood subfloor, or over existing vinyl.

Floating Cork Flooring

You have the option to glue down cork flooring; however, most people prefer to float cork because it is a softer floor to walk on and easier on the joints. Some of our cork floors have a locking mechanism, which is very user friendly for the DIY home owner.

Glue Down Cork Flooring

Unlike some of our cork floors which can be floated, we also have cork tiles which must be glued down because they do not have a locking mechanism on the tiles.
